Online burnout coaching – Recognizing exhaustion, setting boundaries, regaining strength

You're functioning. But it's costing you more and more, and you're getting less and less back. In online coaching, you'll discover which patterns are exhausting you – before you reach your breaking point. Or afterwards, when you start again and want to do things differently this time.

Exclusively online via video · Certified coach (DCV, IOBC) · Systemic coaching & psychological counseling

Burnout coaching at ZEZI is an online coaching program designed for two phases: the period before, when exhaustion, chronic stress, and the feeling of being unable to switch off become overwhelming – and the period after, when it's time to re-enter the workforce and prevent old patterns from resurfacing. Anastasia Zeziulina combines systemic coaching with psychological counseling: You'll recognize the inner drivers that push you beyond your limits and learn how to protect your energy. For the acute phase of burnout, medical or therapeutic treatment is the right approach; coaching does not replace it. All sessions take place via video.

Themen & Tools: Text

Do you know that feeling? Exhausted, even though you're just going through the motions.

  • The weekend isn't enough anymore. Neither is vacation. On the first day back at work, it all comes flooding back.

  • You lie awake at night, and your mind is racing with tomorrow's to-do list.

  • You say "Yes, I will" – and feel something inside you shrink.

  • You feel like everyone else can do it. Apparently, you're the only one who isn't resilient enough.

  • You're irritable about things that didn't bother you before. And you're ashamed of it.

  • Things that brought you joy feel like more tasks.

  • You think, "I can't afford to be out of commission now." And you keep working.

  • You've already dropped out once. Now you're back – and you're afraid it will happen again.

If you're nodding here, you're not too weak for your job. You've been giving more than you've received for a long time, and your system is telling you that the numbers aren't adding up. That's not a weakness. That's information.

If you are sensitive, you carry more than others see.

Sensitive people pick up on what's in the room: the tension within the team, the mood of superiors, the unspoken pressure. They don't just do their jobs, but also attend to the atmosphere, conflicts, and the colleague who isn't doing well. This work isn't in any job description and isn't paid for anywhere – but it takes a lot of energy. A lot of energy. In coaching, you learn to distinguish what you want to carry and what isn't for you.

Where coaching helps – and where it doesn't

I want to be honest here because this topic concerns your health.

Coaching is right for you if you notice you're heading towards exhaustion but are still capable of taking action. If you're experiencing warning signs and want to make a change before things get serious. Or if you're returning after a break, sick leave, or treatment and want to ensure things don't get that bad again.

Coaching isn't the right approach if you're in the acute phase: if you've barely slept for weeks, can't get out of bed in the morning, if you're plagued by profound hopelessness, if physical symptoms are worsening, or if you're having thoughts that it would be better if you didn't exist. Then you need medical and therapeutic help – first your family doctor, then a psychotherapist, or in acute emergencies, call 116 117 or the telephone counseling service at 0800 111 0 111. This isn't a failure. It's the fastest way back.

If you're unsure where you stand: That's exactly what the initial consultation is for. I'll tell you frankly whether coaching is right for you at the moment – and if not, what else might be better.

Before it all stops working, or when you start over.

In the free intro call (15 minutes) we talk about what you need right now and whether prevention or a restart fits you.

If you are at your limit right now, please speak to your doctor first.

Burnout prevention: recognize early what is exhausting you

Burnout doesn't happen overnight. It develops over months, often years, during which you consistently give a little more than you have. Prevention isn't about working less and doing more yoga. Prevention is about recognizing the patterns that push you beyond your limits – and changing them.

The inner drivers

"Be perfect." "Please everyone." "Be strong, don't show weakness." "Try hard, otherwise you're worthless." You've never consciously learned these phrases, but they control you. They ensure that you take on the extra task, postpone calling in sick, or answer the email at 10 p.m. In coaching, we make them visible—and take away their power, without you losing your own standards.

Not able to say no

Self-worth through achievement

When your worth is tied to your performance, you can never stop performing. Every break feels like a risk. This pattern almost inevitably leads to burnout – and it's one of the areas where psychological counseling is most effective.

Take warning signs seriously

Sleep problems, irritability, withdrawal, a feeling of inner emptiness, frequent infections, cynicism towards work. Individually, these are normal. But together, and over several weeks: a warning sign. In coaching, you learn to recognize your personal early warning signs – the ones that appear before the breakdown, not just when it occurs.

Restart after burnout: back, but different

The acute phase is behind you. Perhaps you were on sick leave, undergoing treatment, or in a clinic. Now it's time to return – to your old job, a new one, or to grapple with the question of what even suits you anymore. And with re-entry comes the fear: What if it happens again?

This fear is justified if nothing changes except your calendar. Burnout has causes, and most of them aren't just related to the workplace, but to the patterns you've used to cope with it. That's precisely what we work on in our Restart Coaching program.

  • What really made you sick? Not just the amount of work, but the drivers that made you take it on.

  • What needs to change? In your job, in your boundaries, in how you treat yourself. Specifically, not as a resolution.

  • How do you get back into it? Pace, scope, conversations with superiors, dealing with your own impatience.

  • How can you recognize the next relapse early? Your personal warning signs and a plan for what to do next.

  • Is the job still a good fit? For some, a fresh start also means a career reorientation – and that's not a defeat, but a consequence.

Restart coaching does not replace aftercare or therapy. It complements them by providing what therapy often lacks: concrete work on your everyday professional life.

Typical topics in burnout coaching

Constant stress at work

Too much, too fast, too long. We differentiate between what is due to the system and what is due to how you use it – and we work on both.

Perfectionism and performance pressure

When good is never good enough. When you only feel safe as long as you overwork.

Limits of working from home and being constantly available

When work and life no longer have a door between them. When your mobile phone lies on the nightstand in the evening, "just in case."

Exhaustion from responsibility for others

For the team, for the family, for loved ones. When you're the person who holds everything together – and nobody asks who holds you together.

Returning to work after sick leave

Looking back at the first few weeks. The looks from colleagues, your own insecurity, the question of how much to reveal.

Fear of relapse

When every stressful day feels like the beginning of the end. We're working to help you distinguish between effort and danger again.

What has changed

You realize you're tired – and lie down instead of continuing. And the world doesn't end.

You say, "I can't do that this week," and discover that you can. That it's even respected.

Your phone is in another room. And after a few days, you realize you don't miss it.

You recognize the driving force within you when it says, "Just one more thing." And you decide for yourself.

You come back from vacation and it still has some effect on you. It's not gone after two weeks.

And at some point you realize that exhaustion is no longer the norm. That your energy has returned – not because you're doing less, but because you're no longer working against yourself.

How I work with you

I know how it feels when your body sets limits that your mind wasn't willing to accept. A serious illness forced me to rethink my strategies—the constant striving, the inner drive that was never satisfied. What I learned during that time is now the core of my work: change doesn't come from even more discipline, but from honest self-reflection and self-compassion.

When it comes to burnout, both methods are equally important because exhaustion comes from within and from without.

Psychological counseling

For your inner self: What drives you? Where does the feeling come from that you are only worth something if you achieve something? How do you deal with guilt when you set boundaries? Here we work with self-empathy – the ability to treat yourself the way you would treat an exhausted friend.

Systemic coaching

From an external perspective: What pressures are truly present within the system – in the role, in the team, in the family? Where can you make changes, where do you need to set boundaries, where is opting out the right answer? And what concrete step will you take this week to conserve energy?

I am a certified coach (DCV, IOBC). I am not a doctor or psychotherapist – and I will tell you openly if you need one. More about me on the About Me page.

Online coaching – this is how it works

I work exclusively online. All sessions take place via video – all you need is a quiet place, a stable connection, and 60 minutes. This is especially advantageous if your energy is limited: no travel, no extra appointment in your calendar, and you remain in your own space.

This is what my clients say

I can highly recommend Anastasia to anyone looking for or interested in coaching. During my coaching sessions with her, I always felt heard, understood, and accepted. I came to her with a blockage or fear that was weighing me down. Her unparalleled warmth and understanding allowed me to quickly open up and be honest with her and with myself. Under her sensitive yet focused guidance, I independently arrived at important insights that now help me better understand myself and my behavioral patterns, and learn to manage them. The willingness to change is essential – and Anastasia provides the perfect impetus and essential tools to bring about this change (even beyond the coaching sessions).
It was a truly wonderful trip with the best companion I could have wished for!

My

My best decision this year was to start coaching with Anastasia, and I can wholeheartedly recommend her. She is very attentive, warm, and has the unique gift of making you feel heard and seen. During a very stressful period for me, filled with mental baggage and blocks, I decided to invest time in my personal growth. To my great surprise, the coaching process was so liberating that I ultimately regained much more time and ease. A lesson for me: there is always enough time for what is truly important. I am very proud of what we were able to bring to light in our sessions and couldn't imagine a better coach. Thank you, Anastasia!

Frequently asked questions about burnout coaching

Am I already experiencing burnout or "just" stressed?

I can't diagnose that for you online, and nobody should. As a general guideline: stress is exhausting, but you can recover – things usually go back to normal after the weekend. If recovery no longer works, if irritability, emptiness, and sleep problems persist for weeks, that's a sign that should be checked by a doctor.

What is the difference between burnout and depression?

The two overlap, and distinguishing between them requires medical expertise. Broadly speaking, burnout is tied to work and begins there; depression affects all areas of life. Because burnout can develop into depression, a diagnosis is crucial. Learn more in the article "Burnout or Depression – The Difference ."

Can I do coaching while I'm on sick leave?

This depends on your stage of recovery and should be discussed with your doctor. During the acute phase, recovery and treatment take priority. Once you are stable and your return to work is approaching, coaching can help you prepare.

Is this coaching or therapy?

Coaching – for prevention and a fresh start. The acute phase of burnout, depression, or an anxiety disorder requires medical and therapeutic treatment. Coaching can complement or follow therapy, but it cannot replace it.

Will the health insurance cover the costs?

No. Coaching is not covered by health insurance. Some employers offer coaching as part of their workplace health management programs – it's worth asking. Current prices can be found under "Procedure and Prices".

Does burnout coaching work online?

Yes – and for exhausted people, it's often better than being there in person. No travel, no extra effort, you stay in your familiar surroundings. Working on patterns and boundaries happens in conversation and in the everyday moments in between.

I'm afraid that coaching will be yet another appointment that I can't make.

That's an important concern, and we take it seriously. You set the pace. If every three weeks is too frequent, then four. If you have to cancel a session, that's not a failure. Coaching is meant to restore your energy, not drain it.

Do I need to change my job?

Not necessarily. Many burnouts aren't caused by the job itself, but by how people handle it – and that can be changed. We'll determine whether your job is still a good fit when you're ready to ask the question again. See career reorientation.
